extreme WEB makeover!

Are you sitting down?  K, cause this blog post will be loaded.  Lots to announce to you!  I thought it would be appropriate to post right before we are headed out the door to Thanksgiving.  So when you are digesting and napping and half sleeping, half football watching, half net surfing- I hope to entertain you a couple minutes.

FINALLY- we have one central home site!  It is: www.drescherphotoanddesign.com.  Easy and simple.  Just click here on our home base and it will navigate you to the blog, the photo site, the design site- effortlessly.

Next, J and I have tackled a never ending project that we are finally pleased to say we think is done (for now. wink!).  Everyone updated their sites.  James posted new brides, new babies and new football (go hawks!).  He also changed around some borders and fine tuning.  So please, flip through all his new portfolios- I love them all.  Good job hubby- you are amazing!  Next up- I played around on my site too.  Added a couple design misc. jobs but most importantly added new cards!  My card sets are available for holiday gift ideas.  Purchase a set (or two or three!) and I will complimentary wrap these into a cute little bundle so literally, all you have to do is gift.  I make it easy for you.  I hope you enjoy browsing the quirky stationery- here is just a sneak peak:

Next up- brides, brides, brides!  You have requested expo info. and I am full of answers.  James and I will be at the US Cellular Center Annual Bridal Planner Expo on JANUARY 10th (Sunday). We are giving away coupons and notepads and all kinds of goodies.  Look for our new ad. in the Gazette:

I promise as the time is closer, I will post times and details.  For now: save-the-date, mark your calendar and get pumped because this will be the best year yet!  Last call of business.  Black Friday.  Are you dreading it?  Loving it?  Either way- if you are into the whole “get my Christmas shopping done immediately after Thanksgiving” then listen up.  James and I wanted to make the holidays easy on you.  We are offering this holiday season gift certificates for sessions!  It is a totally personalized and unique gift.  Any new mommy, grandmas- anyone will LOVE this gift.  All you do is pick the price you want to spend and we will issue a gift certificate.  I am even going overboard and wrapping them up into a gift bundle for you.  No extra charge!  Just because I love the holidays.  And we love to spoil our clients.  So come on- don’t fall into the same old rut this year.  Give a photo session to someone you love and they will have their photos for forever, even when the holiday bliss is all over and done with.

Everyone have a wonderful Thanksgiving.  Don’t forget to make a list of all the things you are truly thankful for this week! -Missy

audrey + josh

(hee hee.  love this series.  the kiss above, then a silly smirk from both next.  they were so giggly like its the first time they kissed.)

Audrey and Josh are super cute.  Audrey was stressed on what to wear and what to do and how to prepare; but after we knocked the first couple shots out she was having fun and forgot to be nervous!  Audrey and I went to high school together, and it was so fun to be now involved in her big day years down the road as we are getting “old and married”.  They have a gorgeous wedding planned out with splashes of violet and bright green (my fav!) so I am thrilled to see the final decorations, it was intriguing hearing the cool plans she has.  The two just built a house in Marion so we decided to shoot around Cedar Rapids locations.  The weather was nice and crisp.  I loved the attire Audrey picked out for them, it will look lovely displayed at their wedding reception with the colors.  I made a promise to myself I would only post a small handful of photos to the blog and do the “big chunk” on Facebook- but I am not very good at it.  I loved all the shots from this session!!  So head on over to Facebook to see more.  I tried keeping this post somewhat to a minimum!  Enjoy.  Congrats to the lovely Audrey and Josh! -Missy

go hawks!

Here are some photos from the game James shot.  Great shots, sad game.  Regardless- we’re still proud of the Hawks for the year they are having.  Enjoy the photos!  More on facebook on our fan page.  We are leaving to head out soon out of town for our last wedding of 2009.  What a lovely couple to end a great year on.  I’ll be back with more fall engagements plus lots more fun stuff.  Have a wonderful weekend! -Missy

clinic holiday mailers

Hello all!  I designed these cute little mailers for an acupuncture clinic in Iowa City.  I must give a shout out- as well as being extremely equipped in the medical field, Rachel at one time also worked for Apple (computers) as a graphic designer.  She not only has a keen eye for design, but is amazing at taking away your aches and pains!  So yes- she does it all.  She is an amazing woman.  The fun thing about the mailers is her clinic Health On Point has the same color scheme as these mailers (yes- the walls are lime green, it is adorable!)

Please check out the clinic website: www.healthonpoint.com.  I am not just recommending her because I did this design job; I was a patient of hers before a designer for her.  She has been my acupuncturist for over a year.  I know I am trailing off from photo/design blog to personal dilemmas- but I suffered from severe migraines and Rachel gave me my life back.  She is wonderful- don’t hesitate to call her today for health and wellness.

I am currently working on some super super cute and flirty Valentines mailers so I will post those little cuties soon.  Have a great evening! -Missy

Tara and Travis brought along their little baby- Zoey!  They adopted her from a shelter and are very good puppy parents to her.  We got a kick out of this shoot because we too, have a pet named Zoey- only a cat.  Tara and Travis just moved to North Liberty- actually right up the street from us!  Travis is a firefighter of North Liberty and they are the nicest couple.  Small world- found out I grew up in the same town as he as well!  We were thrilled they brought something new to the table by bringing Zoey along; she was so cute and it was fun watching them interact.  Made me feel less guilty about treating our own cats like they are our children!  Tara and Travis are planning a lovely June 2010 wedding- congrats to them.  Tara and Travis, you were so easy to work with!

Lindsey and Mike choose a beautiful late October date for their crisp gorgeous fall wedding.  Everything was on schedule and perfect from start to finish.  The girls leisurely did hair and make-up and I felt no rush and bustle, making the whole day feel like a calm, true fairy tale day.  The bride called prior to the wedding to let us know of the special contribution they were giving to the Lance Armstrong Foundation honoring the fact that Mike is a cancer survivor.  The way she spoke with a tone of confidence and gratitude gave me the sense even before the wedding day of how genuine the couple would be.  Thus- we thought it would be fun to do sort of a “find the yellow bracelets” type theme through the day, incorporating them into lots of different shots and spots.  However, Lindsey’s childhood teddy bear named Sunshine was much more of a local celebrity and even got a boutonniere (yes- even with a named label tag!).  Needless to say- Sunshine and the yellow bracelets worked themselves around the room posing by everything from bobby pins to cake to beer mugs and onto the dance floor.  I guess I could have done a separate blog post of just these two.  If you would like to see all- request the password into the online site from the lovely Lindsey.

Nice high five action from bride to photographer/wedding dress buttoner.  You know all those little buttons going down the brides back?  Those aren’t fake, people; they are real!  Each one gets its own button hole.  I’ve mastered the art of taking advantage of my little fingers, as well as being able to recognize a mother of the bride in distress after getting her nails polished and not being able to get those buttons.

Justin and Jesse were so fun to work with!  She did her homework; she arrived at the shoot with a football and deck of cards and all things related to their hobbies and personalities.  She also chimed in saying which poses she liked or something she’d seen in a magazine, etc.  It was so rewarding to hear her excitement and enthusiasm!  They are planning a bright summery August 2010 wedding with accents of silver.  We really enjoyed working with such a cute and eager couple.  My favorite part was when she asked if they could take a photo with Justin kissing her on the forehead because “that is what he does every morning.”  Extremely cute.  Enjoy their photos- more on Facebook!  Congrats to J + J!!  -Missy

oh. my. beautiful!  Let me begin by being honest- there are too many to choose from to blog, so please- just go to Facebook and view them all.  I couldn’t decide.  There are over 50 photos of Mike and Allie there.  I almost sort of felt like I was in a Calvin Klein ad for a minute or two as I browsed which ones I wanted to use.  Mike and Allie are sweet, kind, funny- everything!  We met them through friends of friends who attend University of Iowa in dental school.  So yes, they also come equipped with brains on top of beauty.  Allie was describing to me the colors of hydrangeas are what they will use for the wedding day (romantic!) and all the plans they had.  We are excited for their cozy September 2010 wedding.

But seriously- you can view more on Facebook; just type in the search engine: James Drescher Photography.  Enjoy tonight’s post!  -Missy

Beautiful family, huh?  They are just as sweet as they look!  We met Lyndsie through the wedding vendor world a while back and were privileged to document little baby Braden on his six month mark.  Lyndsie is the owner of the successful chic reception site Bella Sala and Hugs and Kisses (XOXO) Bridal Boutique.  So before I begin showing off her lovely family photos, let me begin with a shout out to the brides stopping by today to visit the website if you haven’t booked a reception site or done your dress shopping.  The girls of Bella Sala are young, trendy, fun- they are amazing!  Visit them on the web:
